During July 2014, SWDC distributed 1000 solar lanterns to various IDPs from different districts of Benadir region. Majority of IDPs received solar lanterns were those living in the outskirts of Mogadishu in Deyniile and Dharkeynely who have no access to whatsoever any electricity services. Other people from Boondhere, Hodan, Kaaran, Waberi and Wadajir also received solar lanterns. Local authorities and government representatives including Wadajir district commissioner and DG of Ministry of women & Human Rights Mr Mohamed Omar were invited to join the distribution while IOM representatives were also part of the distribution team.
